Google’s Phone app in the latest beta version can now be added to any phone, months after the app was added to more non-Pixel and non-Android One phones starting April. The latest Google Phone app beta can now be downloaded from the official Google Play Store and installed on phones from OEMs such as Samsung and OnePlus.
According to a report in the Android Police, even as the phone app has now started to work on more phones, but there is one caveat: it is unlikely to show up in search. So far, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip, OnePlus 8, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 6T were said to be compatible with the Google phone app. It is also pertinent to note that the Google Phone app is not very easy to locate on the official Google Play Store.
Google Phone app is the same dialer app that is available and comes pre-loaded on Google’s Pixel line-up of smartphones; some other recent additions also did not show up on the newly-launched Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, running the dialer either, said another report.
Depending on the users’ geological location, the Google Phone app may or may not work. Also, Call Screening — one of the best features of Pixel devices — is still unavailable for for non-Pixel phones in the US.
